Anime - Genshiken - Episode 1, description:

Sasahara Kanji is a new college student, and he makes up his mind to join a circle to share his thoughts of 'Manga, Anime, and Games', that has been hidden until he enters the collage. When he visited Genshiken, which is short for 'Gendai Shikaku Bunka Kenkyuu Kai' (Contemporary Visual Culture Research Organization), his groundless pride was destroyed by the plot of Madarame, a sophomore student of Genshiken. However, as he acts line with Kohsaka, who is a deep Otaku in spite of his handsome looks, and other members of Genshiken, by going to doujin (private publishing) shops and anime festivals, he opens his mind and he resolves that he may make his way into Otaku world. With other members, for example, Kasuga Saki, who is not an Otaku herself but is hot for Kohsaka, and Ohono, the cosplayer, Sasahara's Otaku life in Genshiken becomes stranger everyday. Based on a popular 4-panel comic about the Japanese otaku lifestyle, this anime follows Sasahara Kanji as he dives face first into a world of anime, manga, video games, pornographic doujinshi, and the like. Creator, Kio Shimoku, pokes fun at every element of the otaku world, so sit back and enjoy the ride. This is an anime for hardcore fans, with very complicated references that will test your knowledge of all things otaku.
